Sankalp invites individuals, couples, groups, families and students to make a great contribution and bring changes by getting involved in Shake Hands India Volunteer Program.

The organization is India’s leading gap year travel and volunteer activity provider with various volunteering opportunities. The abroad volunteer work and programme are running in both rural and urban locations at over five different places of India. Though we are working in the most needful and remote areas out of which are surrounded and well linked with famous places of public interest and tourist spots. All volunteer project destinations have diverse customs, culture, climate and layouts with unique geographical conditions for volunteers.

The volunteers can opt to participate for the programs ranging from 1 week to 12 months duration. The volunteer programs open for through the year and Travel combined volunteer programs begin sharply on a pre decided start date. The volunteers are greeted on their arrival, give them general tips in an orientation and accommodate them with group of other volunteers to start up their signed up quest programs.

Sankalp volunteers work in a group with other volunteers from various countries, arriving in pursuit of their dreams for learning not only about India’s rich culture and history, but about others cultures as well. Sankalp provides this opportunity to them. Sankalp offer followings various volunteer project and gap year opportunities in India:

On request, organization providing volunteering programs for grown up at Jaipur location with separate accommodation arrangements. In order to keep the general atmosphere of the program as intended, only participants aged 40+ will be accepted in the program. The maximum age limit for participating in the program would be 65 years. Grown ups are providing separate living arrangements on maximum double occupancy basis as per their requirement of more private space and luxury accommodation. These arrangements are available on some extra applicable fee.

Volunteer's Sefety
We are very much concerned about volunteer's security and safety.

Sankalp commitment to safety and well-being of every participant take top priority in the planning and operation of each program. Because hundreds of young adults from around the worl participate in Sankalp volunteering programs and travel combined volunteer programs each year, we have extensive experience in our response to handle incedents and emergencies. Please assure that Sankalp will not conduct a program that we believe will jeopardize the safety of any person.

Our team member having proper identity will pick you up from Delhi airport on landing. We place volunteers in very comfortable accommodation located in secured and peaceful environment.

While staying and during the currency of the project we take care of the volunteers with utmost vigilance and proper security.

The team is perfect in giving suitable guidance and follow up instructions about the local and national transportation and about the outing for the project location surroundings.

All the team members have mobile phones, so getting in contact in an emergency is not difficult. You are always welcome to get in contact with the staff at any time on our cell phones during your entire stay.

Mobile phones are also common on the all project location SIM cards and pre-paid cards are pretty affordable. So, bring your phone, staff will help you to get a SIM card.

The volunteer’s home/host families are chosen near health care facilities.

Health Issues and Vaccinations
Some countries require or suggest persons going abroad to have themselves vaccinated prescribed before departure and on entering the country abroad. It would be fair to view your country's government website for more information regarding the health of travellers. It is also recommended to visit the nearest travel clinic prior to your departure for abroad. Staying and working in another country, often in conditions you are not used to, can take a toll on the body and mind.

Money/Currency
Currency: Rupees (INR)
Inform Banks: Give the dates of travel and destinations to prevent security blocks on your bank and credit cards.
Cash: Always take enough cash to cover your expenses for the first week in case there is a problem with your bank cards or access to ATM’s is limited.
Credit Options: Good idea to have at least two different credit/debit card options i.e. MasterCard, Visa, Maestro, or Cirrus.
Travellers Cheques: Will only be able to exchange in major cities and best to take them in Dollars.
Western Union: If at any time you have any problems in accessing money you can use Western Union transfer. Money can be sent from your home country and received in India the same day.

Visas
Sankalp invites volunteers from many countries around the world. Obtaining a Visa is responsibility of the volunteers. Citizens of all countries ought to view their own country Govt. web site or contact embassy of their home country. It’s suggested and strongly recommended to obtain a Tourist Visa to India if you want to join a program less than 180 days (6 months). If you are looking a program more than 180 days (6 months), you must need an Entry Visa to India and you will be need a invitation letter from us to obtain an Entry Visa form Indian Embassy.
