Briefing Pack & Materials
Once your complete program fee has been deposited; we send you an pre-departure information booklet (Hand Book) detailing everything you need to need to know about your impending volunteer placement relevant to your volunteer program and fulfill all remaining administration duties with you.
Pickup & Meeting at Airport
On arrival at project location you will meet our representative/driver, he waits for you at airport / railway / bus stand holding with your name sign (placard).
For the Jaipur and Dharamshala location; pickup service from Delhi Airport is available on payment of applicable amount ($80) of pickup expenditure. On arrival at Delhi airport you will meet our representative/driver, he waits for you at Delhi airport holding with your name sign (placard). He will take you from Delhi to project location by Car.
Accommodation & Meals
We offer comfortable accommodation with easy approach to project sites for the volunteers in every running project locations.
Jaipur location: you are provided accommodation in volunteer’s home established by the organization with perfect setup. The volunteer's home is fully residential with some modern and traditional arrangements. The home is furnished with TV, DVD, Refrigerator, Music System and other entertaining gadgets with sufficient vacant space for celebration and spent leisure time. There is a facility of 3-4 sharing rooms with western toilets. During summer season the rooms are cooled with AC system.
On request, grown ups (40+) are providing separate living arrangements on maximum double occupancy basis as per their requirement of more private space and luxury accommodation. These arrangements will be available on some extra applicable fee including amenities like refrigerator, music player, video & books library as well as information and assistance for independent excursions during the weekends.
The team serves quality Indian food to the volunteers in the home itself.
Rural Camp, Jaipur: The Rural Camp is the volunteer's home. It is characterized by its unique appearance. The camp area is fully residential and volunteers' dwellings are fully equipped with modern and traditional arrangements. The clay finished earthen huts; roof duly thatched with straw and reeds gives a picturesque view and is very comfortable to live in. The beds are having a look of the traditional style. These huts stay cool in summer and remain warm in winters.
Dharamshala & other Location: On placement, you ought to live with a local Indian family like a family member. A separate living room on dual or triple sharing basis with volunteers will be provided. The host family will serve 3 local area meals (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). The food they prepare and serve to you would be delicious one with daily changed varieties. You may help the host in preparing the meal so that you may learn cooking of various India dishes, which would be liked by your inmates when you go back and serve them with. You may also cook food of your own choice. Living with the Indian family will prove for you the best track of learning the India tradition, culture and behavior without much cost and efforts.
Project Orientation
Next day of your arrival at the destination we organize an orientation for each program where you will gain an understanding on the entire volunteer program, Indian history, its culture and traditions. The volunteering in India would entail an introduction to Hindi and as well as rules and regulations of the organizations including visit to see surrounding super markets, shopping malls, ATM, rickshaw stand and others.
Daily Transportation
You will be picked up from the place of your residence and drop at work site and pick you up from work site to place of residence at the set timings at both ends. Thus you are saved to spend much more amount and time in arranging transport at your own.
Safety
We are very much concerned about volunteer's security and safety.
Sankalp commitment to safety and well-being of every leader and participant take top priority in the planning and operation of each program. Because hundreds of young adults from around the world participate in Sankalp volunteering programs and travel combined volunteer programs each year, we have extensive experience in our response, please assure that Sankalp will not conduct a program that we believe will jeopardize the safety of any person.
Our team member having proper identity will pick you up from Delhi airport on landing. We place volunteers in very comfortable accommodation located in secured and peaceful environment.
While staying and during the currency of the project we take care of the volunteers with utmost vigilance and proper security.
The team is perfect in giving suitable guidance and follow up instructions about the local and national transportation and about the outing for the project location surroundings.
All the team members have mobile phones, so getting in contact in an emergency is not difficult. You are always welcome to get in contact with the staff at any time on our cell phones during your entire stay.
Mobile phones are also common on the all project location SIM cards and pre-paid cards are pretty affordable. So, bring your phone, staff will help you to get a SIM card.
The volunteer’s home/host families are chosen near health care facilities.
Visas
Sankalp invites volunteers from many countries around the world. Obtaining a Visa is responsibility of the volunteers. Citizens of all countries ought to view their own country Govt. web site or contact embassy of their home country. It’s suggested and strongly recommended to obtain a Tourist Visa to India if you want to join a program less than 180 days (6 months). If you are looking a program more than 180 days (6 months), you must need an Entry Visa to India and you will be need a invitation letter from us to obtain an entry visa form Indian Embassy.
Cultural Excursions
Sankalp staff is at hand to help organize weekend excursions and activities, which can include visiting cultural places of significance and visiting various projects surrounding area. This way you can learn firsthand about each project and take part in local cultural and adventure activities.
Sankalp team will always be available to provide guidance and admin support to the volunteers.
